WD-40 Specialist Line of Products

WD-40 Specialist Line of Products

What is WD-40 Specialist?

WD-40 Specialist is a new line of best-in-class maintenance products specifically formulated to help you get specific tasks done with ease. The line includes: Rust Release Penetrant Spray, Water Resistant Silicone Lubricant, Protective White Lithium Grease, Long-Term Corrosion Inhibitor, and Rust Remover Soak.

WD-40 Specialist products have been proven effective by multiple independent lab tests and outperform the leading competitors in standard ASTM performance tests.

WD-40® SPECIALIST™ RUST REMOVER SOAK

Dissolves rust quickly without harming surrounding parts, trim, gaskets or paint. It restores surfaces to bare metal without scraping, chipping or scrubbing. For light rust, leave parts in 1-3 hours and for heavy rust, leave parts in overnight. This non-toxic and biodegradable formula is effective on small or large items that can be soaked.

WD-40® SPECIALIST™ WATER RESISTANT SILICONE LUBRICANT

Safely lubricates, waterproofs and protects metal and non-metal surfaces, including rubber, plastic and vinyl better than leading competitors. It dries fast and leaves a clear, non-staining film that doesn’t stick or make a mess, so it won’t attract dirt. Effective in a temperature range from 100° F to 500° F, it’s ideal for use on cables, pulleys, guide rails, valves, linkages, hinges, locks and more, and is 50-state VOC compliant.

WD-40® SPECIALIST™ LONG TERM CORROSION INHIBITOR

Protects and lubricates metal parts, blocking rust and corrosion for up to one year outdoors and two years indoors. It is ideal for both preventative maintenance and use in extreme environments such as high humidity. Safe to use and 50-state VOC compliant, it provides non-drying lubrication that stays where you spray it.

WD-40® SPECIALIST™ PROTECTIVE WHITE LITHIUM GREASE

Is ideal for metal-to-metal applications that require heavy-duty lubrication and protection against rust and corrosion. It sprays on evenly as a liquid and sets dry for a thick, protective coating that won’t wash off, melt, freeze or run in any weather. Effective in a temperature range from 0° F to 300° F, WD-40 Specialist White Lithium Grease provides unbeatable protection with long-lasting lubrication on auto hinges, gears, sprockets, outdoor hinges, latches, overhead door tracks, pulleys, cables and guide rails. It’s also excellent for lubricating equipment before placing in storage, and is 50-state VOC compliant.

WD-40® SPECIALIST™ RUST RELEASE PENETRANT

Penetrates deep into crevices, threads and seams to break the bonds that hold stuck parts together. It also leaves behind a protective layer and helps prevent rust and corrosion from re-forming. Containing Blu TorchTM Technology, a proprietary blend of synthetic additives, it quickly goes to work on rusted nuts, bolts, threads, locks and chains. WD-40 Specialist Rust Release Penetrant frees rusted parts 50% faster than the leading competitor. It is 50-state VOC compliant and safe to use on plastics, rubber and metal.

Air-Cooled Equipment and Filter Cleaning

How To Clean Air-Cooled Equipment and Filters

Foam Brite Nu-Brite Alka-Brite

Air-Cooled Condensers

The primary goal in cleaning air-cooled condensers is to emulsify the greasy dirt and grime so that it can be flushed away by rinsing. This restores designed heat transfer and air flow. A good alkaline cleaner like CalClean is the choice, and the selection of Special HD CalClean would be recommended if the soil or  rime is particularly stubborn.

Condenser Coil Cleaning

If foam during cleaning and brightened aluminum fins after cleaning are desired, select any one of the Nu-Calgon “Brite” products (Nu-Brite, Alka-Brite Plus, Foam-Brite or Cal-Brite). They will provide the cleaning of the CalClean products with the added features of foam and brightening. If hydrofluoric acid based products were used before, select Nu-Brite, Alka-Brite Plus or Foam-Brite. They are formulated to out-foam, out-brighten and out-clean the HF-based products. For small condenser coils, or where rinsing is not possible, use Aerosol Nu-Blast.

Evaporator Coils

Evaporator CoilTypically, the desired goal is the same as in cleaning air-cooled condensers, removal of greasy dirt and grime and designed capacities. If an acid based product is desired, where some brightening and foaming is wanted, use Cal-Brite followed by a thorough rinsing. If rinsing is not possible or not desirable, a product that combines “metal-safeness” without rinsing is suggested so long as suitable humidity-condensation is anticipated. Use Evap Pow’r-C in this application. Or, select the convenient aerosol, Evap-Foam No Rinse or
Evap-Fresh.

CalClean Tri Pow’r HD diluted 10:1 can also be used in no-rinse applications.

Electronic Air Filters

Air CleanerWhen electronic air filters become coated with tobacco tars, gummy dust particles and other stubborn deposits, they are difficult to clean. More importantly they lose their ability to adequately remove these types of objectionable items from the air. And typically, wherever electronic air filters are installed, the quality of the air is paramount.

Most alkaline cleaners don’t work because they simply cannot emulsify the stubborn deposits such as tobacco tars. Special HD CalClean and Electronic Cell Cleaner are specifically formulated to handle such a cleaning requirement. It contains an extra-strong blend of surface-active agents and alkaline cleaners, designed especially for cleaning electronic air filters. Special HD CalClean and Electronic Cell Cleaner easily out perform ordinary detergents.

Coil Protection

Cal-Shield
A product formulated with DuPont Teflon® surface protector. Utilizes the recognized ability of Teflon to shield and protect finned cooling and heating coils.

Traditional cleaning of the coil with a coil cleaner removes most to all deposits, restoring lost capacity as well as operating efficiencies. Unfortunately, the problem will return and cleaning will again be required.

Use of Cal-Shield will allow the coil to operate longer periods between cleaning. Once Cal-Shield is applied to the cleaned coil, it forms a protective shield of Teflon that helps the coil resist the depositing of dirt and grime, moisture will “bead up” and run off. This enables the coil to perform more efficiently for a longer period of time. If a coil is in an aggressive environment, such as salt air and food coolers, the Teflon will extend the coil’s service life in this corrosive environment. Consult Nu-Calgon Product Bulletin 3-36.

QwikProduct QwikCheck Acid Test Kit

QT2000 QwikCheck Acid Test Kit
QwikCheck® is ideal for preventive maintenance checks and for verifying proper acid clean up. The QwikCheck® indicator paper is golden yellow before testing and will turn pink or red upon being exposed to as little as 1 part per million (PPM) of acid.

Perform a Qwik acid test on operating systems. Ideal for preventative maintenance checks or for verifying proper acid clean-up after a compressor burn-out / change-out.

  • 2-Second Refrigeraiton Acid Test
  • Test to ARI-700 limit of 1 PPM
  • Tests for Inorganic Acid (including POE)
  • Meets EPA Venting Rules

QwikCheck Before and After

Directions

  1. Insert the valve core depressor into the center of the suction side of the vapor service valve while the system is operating.
  2. Allow vapor to flow through the QwikCheck® for 3-seconds. If the indicator paper does not change color, hold for another 3-seconds. If the indicator paper still does not change color, inorganic acid was not detected.
  3. If the indicator paper changes color slightly, add QwikShot® to remove the acid. If the paper turns red, the acid level is very high. Change the oil and the filter-drier, and then add QwikShot®.
